Juan Antonio Zufiria

Juan Antonio Zufiria is the executive president of IBM in Spain, Portugal, Greece, and Israel. He earned his Ph.D. in aeronautical engineering from the Technical University of Madrid, his Ph.D. in applied mathematics from the California Institute of Technology, and his MBA from the London School of Economics.

He joined IBM in 1987 as a researcher in the department of science and mathematics at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center in New York. Since then, he has held various positions in many areas of the organization. Between 2000 and 2006 he led IBM’s service division in Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey, and Israel; later, he was the general director of business lines for IBM Global Technology Services in southern Europe.

Juan Antonio Zufiria participates in a number of associations, institutions, and foundations. He is the president of the Club Excelencia de Gestión and the Asociación para el Desarrollo de la Ingeniería del Conocimiento. He also belongs to the professional boards of the ESADE Business School and the Business Leadership Forum of the IE Business School as well as the advisory board for the Engineering Institute of Spain, among others.
